When we moved to Texas 4 years ago, we had a plan. The Lord had provided a great full time ministry job with flexible hours for Aaron, who was going to get certified in Bible translation at GIAL and earn his masters degree from DTS. Maybe we’d have a couple more babies. Then in a few years, we would get hired by the IMB and off we’d go to…. well, that part was always kind of blurry.
“A man’s heart plans his way, but The Lord determines his steps.” -Proverbs 16:9
Two and a half years ago, we realized our plan wasn’t really going to work out just as we had predicted. We were confident that The Lord had led us to Texas, but it seemed that the school doors were getting slammed shut. The money wasn’t there. The time wasn’t there. Praise God, the babies were there! But what in the world were we doing here? This was not the plan!
“‘For I know the plans I have for you’-this is the Lord’s declaration – ‘plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. You will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.'” -Jeremiah 29:11-13
The Lord rekindled Aaron’s desire for translation work 8 months ago. It seemed that now was the appointed time to make steps in that direction. The Lord shone enough light for one small step at a time and provided sweet confirmation all along the way. We are now in the application process with Wycliffe Bible Translators and have been called to the Pacific region, specifically, Papua New Guinea. We have many, many more steps to take before we’re stepping onto that island (at least a year). God is indeed sovereign and is behind, beside, and before us.
“The counsel of The Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation.” -Psalm 33:11
We desperately need to hear His voice on many details in the coming months. This is where you come in. We need you. We need prayer. Part of God’s plan for us is to be friends with the dearest people in the world. So we’re inviting you to walk on this journey with us. We’re all on a journey. We’ve got the same map, same Guide, just varied paths. Will you pray right now for clarification and provision? We want to share the Map, His Word, with others! Pray for protection from the enemy’s attacks. He does not want us to go and the battle is always raging.
“And if someone overpowers one person, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not easily broken.” -Ecclesiastes 4:12
You are loved, friends. Thank you for your love and prayers.
“We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you.” -Colossians 1:3
Praying for you all. That the God of the Angel Armies would surround with legions of warriors to protect you as you go. That He would continue to revael Himself to you and fill you both with wisom and discernment.
Love and blessings ,
Cindy
