March 2023 Update

Our dear friends, we’ve had such a wonderful and refreshing time in the USA over the past 7 months. First Baptist Concord has hosted us in their cozy missions house right next to the church, heaping blessing upon blessing to our family through the missions and family ministries there. We have enjoyed seeing many of you and hugging your necks while we’ve been here. We are also grateful for our new partnering church, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Nebraska, that has poured their love and support on our family. Can you believe we’ve already wept through some “goodbyes,” some of which were just after our “hello”? Many of our friends are spread all over this country, and there are many we haven’t even been able to see.

As we prepare to head back to Papua New Guinea in May, we are ever aware of how the best things in our lives are people. Thanks for praying over each of us and with us as we journey through this next transition. We are thrilled to get back to PNG while grieved to leave the States.

This year the extended Wade family is growing from 18 to 20 with a new baby and a marriage!

We’ve purchased our plane tickets, and are gathering what we think we will need to live and thrive as a household of eight, away from the States and her many conveniences for the next couple years. We’ve been using most of our spending budget for shoes for the kids. It seems like a lot left to purchase in just two months, so let us know if you’d like to help out with any of these needs. Otherwise, pray with us for the Lord to continue to guide us in His provision.

How many pairs of shoes do five growing young men and three adults need? International customs might think we’re trying to open a shoe store overseas. Last furlough, all these shoes were MUCH smaller.

Our kids’ schedules are full of activities with their school, athletics, friends, and family members. We all know how a round or two of sickness can bring everything to a grinding halt. Please pray with us for grace with our time whether we are healthy or sick.

Jake, Zeke, and Judah after nailing their performances in their school musical. Fifth grade has been a blast!

This Easter season has already brought spiritual growth in our family. Silas was baptized the first Sunday in March, which was a huge spiritual victory in our home! Will you join with us that God will cement those memories in his heart and draw Silas closer to His infinite goodness each day? This week, Silas struggled with his allergies and asthma more than ever. We know God will keep getting the glory in his life. Thanks for praying with us over his health.

This is the best kind of joy.

We’ve been so blessed by a Vacation Bible School at Cross Point Church in Alabama. Through a fundraiser, they were able to purchase much-needed batteries to bolster our village house power system. Once again, we’ve been blown away by the efforts and support of children and those that listened to and helped them, who felt led to support the Mamusi Bible translation in this way! We’ve been discussing recently how children and teens aren’t really the “next generation,” but are actually the “now generation,” as all of us are, no matter what our age. The batteries are already on their way to PNG and should be ready to take out to the village soon. We are still a bit short on our Mamusi project budget for the year, so please pray over whether you can help fill this need in providing materials and training for the translation team.

    Hello Wade Family!

WOW – what a wonderful time that everyone has had stateside – such a blessing! And the response of the Concord FBC plus the new Emmanuel Lutheran Church sponsorship – another blessing! As I have shared many times previously, the many sacrifices made by your family will be honored by God! We continue to pray for your safety and God’s protection, encouragement, guidance and direction in the days ahead. May He bring unexpected miracles and many, many opportunities to share Christ whenever/wherever possible.

    We love you!

    To God be the glory!

P.S. Don’t forget to give each of those precious children a BIG “hug” for us!
