Blessings and peace to each of you as your summer winds down. We are doing well here in Ukarumpa, with all eight of us together for a couple more weeks.
The Vitu New Testament Dedication was a joyous day filled with singing and dancing. I (Rebekah) was so humbled to attend. It was a flight and long boat ride away, but God pulled us through the rough seas to the coast of the island just as the sun was setting on the eve of the celebration. Thank you for praying for our safety.
The Vitu New Testament. Pray with us that none of them stay in a box.
Shortly after the dedication, I was in New Ireland, visiting a few translation teams. This was deeply encouraging and informative in my new role as Islands Regional Director.
Robyn, a dear friend of ours, is a translation advisor for three languages in the Islands and has been managing the Kavieng Regional Center. She escorted me around and provided a lot of insight and history. Please pray for more center managers so that translators can focus on their primary goals and assignments. Mandas, Luai, and Elizabeth, Nalik Translators, who are awaiting the hard copies of the recently finished Nalik New Testament!Notsi Translation team with Robyn and Rebekah. This team just finished their final read through of the New Testament and is starting on typesetting!Abel had the nerve to have ANOTHER Birthday! Happy 15! We may have run out of wrapping paper, but that cheesecake made up for it. Aaron has started team teaching for the Grammar Writing Workshop here in Ukarumpa this week. It’s important that SIL do what we can to strengthen the rich vernacular languages found here in Papua New Guinea. Researching a vernacular’s grammar will also have a direct effect on the translation. The languages here are just as varied and diverse and beautiful as the landscape.
Friends, you are so loved and appreciated. Thank you for carrying us with your prayers. We have prayed for you as well. May God give you the courage to listen to His Spirit as He guides you in all understanding and love. Press on with us.
New opportunity
If you’d like to receive the upcoming 2024 PNG Calendar, a beautiful piece produced by our colleagues here, please let us know and we’ll be delighted to send you one!
What a wonderful overview of so many things that will honor our Heavenly Father – such a blessing! And, Rebekah, congratulations on your new role as Islands Regional Director! May God provide wisdom, discernment, encouragement, protection and sensitivity to His Spirit as you interact with the translators and others in the days ahead. The same for Aaron as he facilitates the workshop! WOW – it’s difficult to realize that Abel is 15 – those kids are just growing up too fast! As I have suggested previously, hopefully, you/Aaron are journaling your experiences as it will be such an inspiration to others in the future! If God leads, it could lead to a book that could touch many lives for His kingdom! May God’s presence always be “fresh” and bring GREAT JOY to you/family throughout life’s journey!
We love you!
To God be the glory!

P.S. Oh, yes, don’t dare forget to give a HUGE hug to those precious children!
Thank you for this wonderful update. May God continue to watch over you and your sweet growing family.
Evie probably does not remember this: she was so welcoming and friendly with our little shy granddaughter who was so fearful to go into Sunday School class in Euless. I think grade 1-2. Our granddaughter Angelina Crook is now 15. THANK YOU, EVIE!
